INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE AT KINGLINE PRESS
INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE AT KINGLINE PRESS One of the more rewarding things about this experience has been the ability to apply things that I learned in some of my classes at collage of computing and Information Technology Makerere University directly to the job descriptions that came during our study. Not just the fact that we use the exact same software installations here as we learned in class, but many of the real world applications of that software are directly related to things we studied in my our programming classes. Recently I was able to begin on my hostel management system. That is, managing students bookings and room allocations plus payments. We learned the exact process in class so I already knew how to accomplish it and that was exciting. Another great aspect of working here has been the flexibility. We had weekly tasks and goals that we needed to meet, usually that were handled on a daily basis, and the Kingline Press allows me to meet those goal on my schedule. If I need a day off to work on other programs, I can easily take a day off to do so and make up the time when I am available. In conclusion Kingline Press has been a wonderful place to be during my internship. How did this prepare you for next professional endeavor? First of all I think the people I have met and worked with here are some of the most respected software developers with organizations like NTV Uganda, TOP radio, TOP TV, etc in the industry of software development. Advice to future interns I think it's important to realize that no one expects you to have all of the answers when you start a job. But they do expect you to consistently come to work, be on time, and demonstrate a willingness to work hard and to eventually discover those answers. And if you show that you are also willing to learn, people will respect you even more.
